Light Up Green for Mental Health Month

Mental Health America is asking you to Light Up Green in celebration of the 75th Mental Health Month!

Mental Health Month was started by Mental Health America (known at the time as the National Association for Mental Health) in 1949 and has been observed every May for the last 75 years.

Light Up Green is part of our Mental Health Month campaign, in which we ask buildings and structures across the U.S. to light up green, the color for mental health awareness, throughout May. One in five people will experience a mental health condition in a given year, and 50% of people in their lifetime. Mental health affects us all, and awareness benefits us all.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this important month and hope you will encourage your community to Light Up Green!

You can get involved by contacting buildings and structures (like bridges and monuments) in your community to ask them if they can light up green on May 1st - or any day in May - to honor Mental Health Month.

Please reach out to gderose@mhanational.org with any questions, or to let us know about buildings who have agreed to go green!
