Alexandria, VA (Nov. 9, 2022) – Schroeder Stribling, president and CEO of Mental Health America, issued the following statement today regarding the 2022 U.S. midterm election results:

“Millions of Americans practiced the sacred act of casting a ballot in the 2022 midterm election. To those who made your voice heard, thank you. We are especially grateful to those who carefully considered candidates’ positions on the many important needs and policies affecting our individual and collective mental health.

There are several important pieces of mental health legislation pending and upcoming in Congress, including reauthorization of critical mental health programs and expanded access to services under private and public insurance programs.

We welcome all the new and re-elected candidates, and we look forward to working with all of you as we unite around the urgent need to address the mental health crisis affecting the entire nation, especially our children, the LGBTQ+ population, and Black, Indigenous, and people of color communities. Mental Health America also extends congratulations to the new and re-elected candidates who will and have championed mental health policies and looks forward to continued work on mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention, and increased access to behavioral health services and supports.”
