This is a SAMHSA sponsored webinar presented by Mental Health America (MHA)

In many communities throughout Milwaukee, violence inflicts deep wounds that affect individuals, families, and entire neighborhoods. Survivors of violence are at a higher rate of experiencing a serious mental illness such as PTSD. Addressing the multifaceted impact of violence requires innovative approaches that go beyond traditional interventions. To meet this need, the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Community Wellness and Safety (CWS) created a holistic, community-driven mental health and wellness response framework to support survivors of violence throughout the City and to contain the ripple effects of such incidents.

This framework includes two parts:

  1. Clinicians and healers
  2. Healing Hubs

During this 60-minute session, attendees will:

  • Learn how Milwaukee has taken an innovative approach to supporting the mental health of survivors of violence
  • Explore how clinicians, healers, and healing hubs are providing mental health supports
  • Hear from the Milwaukee Office of Community Wellness and Safety about the framework implementation and how it could be modeled in your community
