Niya McCray-Brown

Director of Community Engagement

Niya McCray-Brown (she/her) serves as MHA’s Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships. Niya works to develop MHA’s outreach strategy to strengthen our network and fulfill our mission. She does this with a focus on amplifying the perspectives of those with lived experience and expanding mental health equity. Niya promotes MHA’s resources by leading innovative collaborations and educational initiatives.

Niya is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and previously worked as a director of a community mental health nonprofit. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Hampton University and a Master of Education in mental health counseling from The College of William and Mary. Working in the mental health field for nearly 10 years has taught Niya how much our individual well-being affects our society as a whole, and because of this Niya is passionate about providing mental health support to communities that are often overlooked and those who need it most.
