I am writing to share an important leadership transition within Mental Health America.

We are deeply grateful to Mary Giliberti, who generously stepped in to serve as interim president and CEO over the past three months. Her leadership has provided the steady guidance and support needed to successfully close out the year with clarity, strength, and momentum.

With a recent retirement in our policy team, the Mental Health America board leadership wanted to ensure adequate staffing devoted to public policy work and it was mutually decided that Mary would return to her role as chief public policy officer. We are thrilled to have her continued expertise in this capacity, particularly as mental health access and innovation are at the forefront of our advocacy and federal and state policy work.

Effective January 1, 2026, the board has appointed Dr. Pierluigi Mancini to serve as the new interim president and CEO. With over 30 years of experience in behavioral health treatment and prevention, Pierluigi is one of the most sought after national and international consultants and speakers on the subject of mental health and addiction. His specialty has been cultural and linguistic access to services.

In this new role, Pierluigi will support the organization’s ongoing work and help with the national search and selection of Mental Health America’s next permanent president and CEO. As part of our established succession plan, Pierluigi has stepped down from his role as board chair. I have moved from chair elect and assumed the board chair role.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment. We are entering 2026 with a strong foundation and clear direction for the work ahead.

With appreciation,

Kana Enomoto
Board Chair, Mental Health America
