Brief Description: Medicaid and 340B: Addressing Health Equity and Access to Care will discuss how Medicaid and the 340B program help safety net providers maintain and improve access to care for people with chronic disease and the underserved, including access to mental health treatment. As debate in Washington and around the country continues over changes to the health care safety net, equity in access to care is particularly important. As we work to eliminate disparities, Medicaid and 340B are both critically important to assuring that care is affordable and accessible to Americans living with low incomes. Presenters will share an overview of how Medicaid and 340B provide resources to states, hospitals, health centers, and public health clinics. The webinar will also discuss how safety net programs, including the 340B program, address access to care and assist with efforts to achieve health equity.
Presenters:
Jeff Davis, a Senior Advisor in Baker Donelson’s Government Relations and Public Policy group and Of Counsel with Baker Donelson, advises health care providers and other clients on legal and policy matters, including assistance with the complex issues surrounding the 340B drug pricing program as well as Medicare and Medicaid billing and reimbursement issues. He also provides clients with strategic advice related to public policy issues before the U.S. Congress and the administration, including drug pricing and non-profit hospital issues.
Courtney Lang is a strategic communications and public affairs expert with a primary focus on grassroots and grasstops mobilization. She is the principal and founder of Langco + Partners, a public affairs firm recognized for leading constituencies to achieve impactful business goals aligned with health policy.
Courtney is an accomplished advocate for patients, providers and health systems and is nationally recognized for her mental health advocacy, co-leading the award-winning Depression is Real campaign from 2007-2011. She currently directs multi-stakeholder coalitions and drives legislative partnerships in support of federal and state-wide priorities, providing extensive c-suite guidance on health equity, population health, 340B, Medicaid 1115 waivers and addressing social determinants of health.
