Transforming Mental Health Data into Powerful Reports
MHA Screening: A Local Approach in Cook County, Illinois
This report was developed to provide community-level findings from MHA Screening data from 2020-2022 in Cook County, Illinois and discuss potential policy and programming opportunities to address mental health needs locally and at the state-level. Based on these findings, this report provides recommendations for investment in three areas:
- Strengthening services for youth and young adults
- Implementation of crisis services and 988 funding
- Mental health workforce development and training
Suicide and COVID-19: Communities in Need Across the U.S.
This report explores MHA Screening data from individuals seeking support for depression in 2020.
It focuses on individuals who reported experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm more than half of the days or nearly every day of the previous two weeks and had the highest need for imminent support.
Severe Depression and COVID-19: Communities in Need Across the U.S.
This report explores MHA Screening data from individuals seeking support for depression in 2020.
It focuses on individuals who were severely impacted by depression, meaning those who reported experiencing symptoms of depression at least half the days over a two-week period and had the highest need for imminent support.
Trauma and COVID-19: Communities in Need Across the U.S.
This report explores MHA Screening data from individuals seeking support for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and individuals seeking mental health supports who self-identified as trauma survivors in 2020-2021.
Trauma is different for everyone—what seems normal to one person might be traumatic for another. Each of the 10 MHA mental health screening tools, including the one for PTSD, allow respondents to self-identify as a member of a select population. One of these populations is “trauma survivor.” This analysis includes insights into the population self-identifying as trauma survivors, as well as analysis of those who completed a screen for PTSD.
Psychosis and COVID-19: Communities in Need Across the U.S.
This report explores MHA Screening data from individuals seeking support for psychotic-like experiences in the U.S. in 2020-2021.
A psychotic-like experience is an event that affects an individual’s thoughts and perceptions and causes some loss of contact with reality. It can be a symptom of several mental health conditions, and in some cases may lead to schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders if left untreated.
